Gambling addiction or anxiety to gamble can significantly affect your mental health in more ways than you think:
Depression and Anxiety
Low self-esteem and stress
Financial stress including unmanageable debt, borrowing from friends and family, loan sharks, coercion
Self-harm, and in some cases, bereavement by suicide
Lack of interest in taking care of yourself so your health in general suffers
Mood swings and isolation
Relationship struggles including feeling threatened, misunderstood and humiliated
Negative feelings due to lying and deceiving people, feelings of shame, guilt and being unable to share due to fear of being misunderstood
We know that as an affected other of someone else’s gambling you can experience many of the above too – we can offer you support.
