New Leaf Recovery and Wellbeing College offers free courses, workshops, and resources designed to help people build confidence, develop new skills, and take positive steps in their mental health recovery. Our approach is rooted in hope, opportunity, and supporting people to take control of their wellbeing in ways that feel meaningful to them.
Students learn in a welcoming, non‑judgemental environment where lived experience and professional expertise come together to help them understand their wellbeing, explore new possibilities, and move towards their personal goals. Whether someone wants to improve their mental health, connect with others, learn practical skills, or take steps towards new activities, the college provides a pathway, guidance, encouragement, and a range of learning experiences to support them at every stage.
Personal recovery is about living a satisfying, hopeful, and meaningful life, even with challenges, and focusing on what will help you move forward.
The college is free to all Hertfordshire residents aged 18 and over.
Courses can help with: - Depression, stress, and anxiety - Relationships and communication - Empowerment, assertiveness and self-advocacy skills - Problem-solving skills - Understanding and managing emotions - Acceptance and personal recovery - Mindfulness and living in the moment - Harnessing creativity for wellbeing - Self-care, self-compassion and overcoming stigma - Goal-setting and incorporating meaningful activities into daily life - Physical wellbeing, healthy living, and pain management - Employment and more Joining the college helps people to: - Gain practical skills, tools, and resources that they can use in everyday life to take control of and manage their mental wellbeing - Build personal resilience and gain transferable skills - Reflect on their situations and gain clarity - Learn how to use their strengths to build a satisfying life All our courses are provided in line with the following principles: Hope – instilling hope for the future despite life’s challenges. Inspiration – hearing the experiences of others to help people learn and be inspired. Empowerment – equipping people with the knowledge and skills to make the changes that are right for you. Courses are free of charge and available to anyone aged over 18 living in Hertfordshire. Courses are offered from various locations across Hertfordshire and online via the platform Zoom. People who wish to join do not need a referral or diagnosis to enrol, nor do they need to be accessing services. Students can enrol and join courses at any time.
