With experience and an understanding of the impacts of gambling related harms, we recognise supporting those affected family and friends is as significant as helping those loved ones who gamble.
Who are the ‘affected others?’
An affected other is a person directly impacted by an individual’s harmful gambling. This may include:
Partners
Parents
Siblings
Children
Grandparents
Friends
Work colleagues
The Six To Ten Project puts affected others at the centre of care to help individuals overcome many of the challenges gambling harms present in everyday life.
Our mission is to create a free, holistic support and a safe space for those affected to help mitigate the harms through intervention, prevention and importantly building resilience for the future.
Through the Six To Ten Project individuals will work one to one with our dedicated specialist project/support workers receiving support for issues from housing, financial, legal to mental and physical wellbeing.
Our team will not only be there to find the right help for your needs, but broker and liaise with other organisations and professionals where possible to ensure the appropriate level of care, as and when needed.
Read on to find out more about how Six To Ten can help you. As an affected other you are not alone.
SUPPORT
We are the first service to offer holistic support to family members and others affected by gambling disorder.
This project has been developed to offer wide-ranging aid, advocacy, and community engagement on your behalf.
As well as practical guidance, Six To Ten aims to complement our free and confidential counselling services offered by all partner charities.
Six To Ten is a partnership between Ara, Beacon Counselling Trust, and DrugFAM.
Once assigned with a project worker, you will be offered regular sessions over the course of up to 12 weeks to help improve quality of life.
All clients will also be entitled to free and confidential counselling through the National Gambling Treatment Service.
Our service support includes advocacy for housing, financial and debt management and legal matters but we also understand family members need space to talk through the impacts of gambling harms to their health and well-being and relationships.
Through one-to-one care and a personal support plan, clients will receive onward referrals and where appropriate, liaison with other professionals who will form a crucial part of your holistic support package.
We are here to make a difference.
