About this service

The Tamil Welfare Association (Newham) UK widely known by its acronym TWAN is a community organisation formed in September 1986 as a self help group by Tamil refugees. We aim to relieve the Tamil migrant community from poverty and to assist the individual refugees in their resettlement in the UK. The organisation provides legal advice and representation for the Tamil speaking community in the UK free of cost. We aso support disadvantaged members of the community through programs like the day centre for senior citizens, supplementary education for refugee children, fine arts classes for young members in the community and a play project for the migrant Tamil children.
