Waterloo Depression and Anxiety Self-Help Group

1st Saturday of the month

AnxietyDepressionLoneliness

About this service

Our self-help group has been meeting once a month since 1995 when it was set up as a Depression Alliance group. We welcome anyone with personal experience of depression or anxiety. The group is free to attend although donations towards room hire are accepted. We are volunteer-run, and have been meeting in person on the first Saturday of the month, from 2-4pm, in a meeting room near Waterloo station. Please email for details. The group aims to offer understanding and encouragement; provide an opportunity to share experiences, coping or recovery strategies; enable mutual support; and raise self-esteem. Current attendance between 6 and 10 people of all backgrounds and ages. At the start of the meeting there will be a "go round" so that each of us have an opportunity to say what is on our minds, but you do not have to speak at all if you don't want to. Our meetings are not therapy but many people find that they gain from the support and understanding of fellow members.
