About this service
24/7 bookable appointments
The Listening Lounge in Salford is a 24-hour friendly and supportive community space open to anyone in Salford (18+) who has been referred by a health care professional and requires an urgent assessment of their mental health needs without the need for medical treatment. Our aim is to offer a 1:1 holistic assessment of an individual’s mental health needs from qualified mental health practitioners and support staff in a relaxed and comfortable environment, avoiding long waits in emergency departments. The Listening Lounge provides brief psychosocial interventions in a calm environment to help identify and promote positive coping strategies, complete referrals to identified and appropriate services, and signpost to other local support services.
Drop-in service
This part of the Listening Lounge offer is coordinated by non-clinical members of staff such as Recovery Workers and Peer Support Workers. It is currently open Monday - Friday (excluding bank holidays), 1pm-3pm. The drop-in is suitable for anyone in a self-defined crisis - so if you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or simply unable to cope in your current situation. These sessions provide a listening ear if you feel you need to talk to someone about your mental health and what is impacting you well-being. We would look at tools to help you cope in the future, or signpost to other appropriate services.
***This service is face-to-face, and is delivered in partnership with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust, START, and MIND in Salford.***
