About this service
Our role is to reduce reoffending and to protect the public. We work with offenders both in the community and in custody to both punish and rehabilitate them and provide a range of programmes and interventions to turn around the lives of those who have committed crimes.
The National Probation Service supervises high-risk offenders released into the community and we are responsible for managing and supervising offenders who have been assessed as low or medium risk of harm and we have responsibility for delivering community sentences which have been ordered by the courts.
