About this service

Hello, I'm Emily. I'm a qualified, relational, integrative counsellor, working with young people and adults. I worked as a teacher for many years, both in mainstream and SEN settings, before re-training as a counsellor in 2019. This broad pastoral background is an ingredient I bring to counselling, giving me insight into a multitude of challenges of the human experience. Whether this is your first time seeking counselling or hundredth time, it can feel very vulnerable sharing your experiences with a stranger. My primary aim, as a person-centred counsellor, is to put you at ease and enable you to feel comfortable enough to open up. This is to help you feel seen, heard and understood, no matter how difficult or complicated your story. With me, there is no judgement, but warm empathy and a willing acceptance of whatever burdens you carry. My hope is that through being able to talk openly about your experiences it will help you to make sense of them, to feel some compassion for yourself and lighten the load. Being a late-diagnosed neurodivergent woman, I understand first-hand how confusing or isolating the world can sometimes feel. If you identify as neurodivergent or are discovering this part of yourself, please be reassured that I will provide you with a neuro-affirming safe space to help you explore this, to unmask and be your authentic self. I provide Autism-specific counselling, as well as support for neurodevelopmental conditions, such as ADHD, Dyslexia and Tourette's Syndrome, and a range of learning disabilities. During your counselling sessions, I will ensure a safe, private and comfortable environment, making adjustments and accommodating any sensory needs you may have. I will incorporate a range of creative resources and interventions that feel right for you. I will pay close attention to and bring awareness of things that may be crushing or holding you back. Come exactly as you are. Together we will explore whatever is important to you, empowering you to draw from your own wisdom to gain a renewed sense of direction, find healing, and restore your true self. Please contact me in the way you feel most comfortable; via the contact form on my website, directly via my email or by phone/text on 07884576886. I will normally respond within 1 working day. Member of the Facebook Group - Counsellors working with Neurodivergence - a group created to further the knowledge, understanding and service provision to neurodiverse people in the United Kingdom.
