About this service
We are a longterm facility that is an abstinence-based recovery living centre, for adult males based in L15. Our aim is to provide recovery from addiction via arts, sport and culture. We believe these things will lead to purpose, belonging and connection.
Trying to recover on your own is a difficult process. We actively encourage community, participation, whether it be a photography group, cinema night, circuit training, pickleball, community bike rides, interpersonal group therapy, gallery visits, gigs, theatre, football, local litter picks, or writing workshops, we do it together.
Whilst doing all this, and most of it is great fun, we also work hard identifying the very patterns and behaviours that brought us here in the first place. The parts of our personalities that aren’t serving us, or anyone else, well. This can be tough. As a community though, one day at a time, we’re doing it by creating a safe space for curiosity, vulnerability, an open exploration of self and of family systems and a place where corrective experiences are shared on a daily basis, it’s challenging work but the rewards are worth it.
Our doors are open to anyone who wants to come and see what we do. Addiction still has a lot of stigmas attached to it. We want to show people that there is a vibrant recovery community here. One that feeds off taking part in life, instead of letting it pass us by.
A fundamental part of our continued work is facilitated through the help and generosity of the general public. It makes a massive difference to our personal and collective recoveries knowing that we are valued and supported.
Please contact us if you would like to come and visit us to see DJK in action yourself.
