About this service
We’re West Kent Mind, your local mental health charity, providing support across the districts of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling, and Tunbridge Wells. We are here to ensure that anyone experiencing a mental health problem has access to compassionate, practical, and inclusive support.
Our free services are designed to help adults and children manage and improve their mental health and wellbeing. These include:
Counselling (subsidised): Up to 24 weekly sessions of 50 minutes each with a volunteer qualified counsellors and supervised trainees at an advanced stage of their training.
Children and Young People Early Intervention: A service for 11–18-year-olds facing challenges like anger, low Mood, anxiety & stress, self-esteem, grief & loss, loneliness. The service includes up to seven one-to-one sessions, starting with an assessment to identify individual needs. Together with a trained practitioner, young people will build a personalised wellbeing toolkit to help them manage their mental health moving forward. A trusted adult is welcome to join the sessions for added support.
Social and activity groups: Our groups offer a safe, supportive space where everyone is welcome. Join friendly sessions like gardening, drop-in chat rooms, or casual meet-ups, an opportunity to share, connect, and feel understood by others on a similar journey.
Support programmes: In partnership with local organisations, we offer practical tools, guidance, and supportive groups, including sessions for parents and ASD support, to help you care for your mental health and support others.
Creative Minds: Creative Minds offers six-month programmes across West Kent designed to boost mental health and wellbeing through creativity. Open to all adults (18+), no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Led by professional artists in welcoming community spaces, the programmes support confidence and connection and have included acting, watercolour, cooking, forest projects.
Mental health training and workshops: We offer a range of bespoke workshops, accredited Mental Health First Aid Training courses and tailored workplace solutions. All are designed to teach practical skills to use in real life situations, and to increase knowledge, awareness and understanding of mental health at home, in our communities and in the workplace.
