About this service

East London Rape Crisis Service provides free, confidential specialist help for women and girls who have been raped or experienced any other form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. The East London Rape Crisis helpline is for women, girls, their friends, family and professionals. Open six days a week, support is offered by phone, email and online chat. Individuals do not have to give any personal details to access this service- if wishing to remain anonymous please call us or use online chat initially rather than emailing. We understand how difficult it is to take the first step, but when a woman feels ready, we are here to help. Rape is never a woman’s fault. The women who work and volunteer at East London Rape Crisis will offer confidential and independent support. The counselling service offers four pathways through our service, depending on the woman’s situation. The first is specialist individual counselling. The second is pre-trial support for women who are engaged in, or are considering legal proceedings. The third is workshops and therapeutic support groups. Finally we also offer a play therapy service for children and their carers. Our Independent Sexual Violence Advocates and our Young Women and Girls Advocates work alongside women and girls aged 11+ to provide one to one emotional and practical support; this includes support and advocacy navigating the criminal justice system. To access the service or to get more information, call us on 0800 160 1036 or email [email protected] . If your call is unanswered please leave a message with a safe telephone number and the best time to call you, and we will call you back. Please note this number is for female survivors and supporters only. We do not take professional enquiries via the information and support line but are happy to assist via email at [email protected] RCEW Live Chat is open during the following times: Monday: 2pm-4.30pm, 6pm-9pm Tuesday: 2-4.30pm, 6pm-9pm Wednesday: 12pm-2.30pm, 6pm-9pm Thursday: 12pm-2.30pm, 6pm-9pm Friday: 9am-11.30am The live chat service is accessible via this webpage https://rapecrisis.org.uk/get-help/want-to-talk/
