About this service
The Southmead Project is a registered charity providing free counselling and support for survivors of abuse and addiction.
We support people of all genders, aged 18 years and over, living in Bristol and surrounding areas.
We provide long-term counselling* for survivors who have experienced abuse at any point in their lives, including sexual, physical and emotional abuse, domestic abuse and neglect. *Please check our website to see if the waiting list is currently open.
We offer Nexus counselling* for survivors who currently have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. This focuses on helping someone become more stable, reduce their drug or alcohol intake and gives practical strategies to deal with anxiety, depression and flashbacks. *Please note that in order to be referred you need to be engaged with a drug and alcohol service and they will need to refer you. Please check our website to see if the waiting list is currently open.
Our Family Support Group is available every week for those who support someone with an addiction to drugs or alcohol or who are affected by someone else’s addiction.
Our Active Recovery Project offers activities in the community, such as water sports and creative sessions, to help survivors develop their self-esteem, confidence and peer support networks.
