About this service

SCC provides a safe space to talk to a skilled counsellor, who will listen and help you understand how past experiences, worries about the future, or lack of self-confidence may be affecting your life. You can bring thoughts and feelings, which you may not feel able to share with friends or family. You are free to talk safely, without fear of rejection, criticism or blame. Your counsellor will not tell you what to do but will help you to make your own choices and to make changes in your life that offer greater freedom in thought and action. SCC counsellors come from a range of different trainings and incorporate a variety of counselling models including psychodynamic, person-centred, integrative and humanistic. We have over 30 counsellors and match the most appropriate one for your needs. To give counselling the best chance of working the sessions need to be weekly, each counselling session lasts 50 minutes. Counselling can be time limited 6 – 12 sessions, or over a longer period of time depending on your requirement, this will be discussed more fully at your initial consultation. The SCC Counselling Service has been accredited by BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and has been helping people like you for over 30 years. We offer support in–person face to face support, online face to face support, telephone support and workshops. The SCC Counselling Service has been accredited by BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 2003.
